About Jeff Mueller

I have chosen bathroom text as my source material because it is a voice of Americans that is truly uncensored. When someone writes a phrase in a water closet, they are writing beliefs or feelings that in daily American culture would go unsaid. Possibly the writer is saying something harsh because, in essence, they are initially being mischievous by writing on public property. After spotting many different versions of writing, I feel that even within the brashest of statements there are some issues to examine. As in sarcasms, there tends to be some truth to the joke being versed. I hope to pull these truths out of the text and have a more concise communication with the viewer.

Often mixed within the inevitable scatological humor are statements about culture, politics, and war. I aim to develop these statements by adding a visual interpretation/commentary upon the original statement or phrase. Building a visual abstract-narrative, viewers will come away from the artwork with a richer dialog.
